Trump Wins Iowa, Carson a Close Second
The latest poll by the Des Moines Register has revealed that Donald Trump is still in the lead of the Republican Party for their presidential nomination, but Ben Carson came in as a close second.
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Donald Trump – 23%
- Ben Carson – 18%
- Scott Walker – 8%
- Ted Cruz – 8%
- Jeb Bush – 6%
- Marco Rubio – 6%
- Carly Fiorina – 5%
Trump is still king of the Republicans and this seems unlikely to change. However, Carson is making great strides in the standings and he may be able to challenge Trump for the top spot if his campaign continues to generate momentum.
Walker and Bush have completely fallen off the radar. They will likely redeem themselves as candidates as the presidential nomination looms closer, but at the moment, they are struggling to attract voters and their platforms are lifeless.
The majority of the other big names surrounding the Republican Party have struggled to build a repertoire with voters. Paul, Huckabee, Christie, Perry, and Santorum are unlikely to ever reach the top of the standings and appear to have no chance against Trump, Carson, Walker and Bush.
As the Republican nomination draws closer, the race is clearly between Trump and Carson and the final decision will be based on which candidate is likely to attract the typical Republican voters and woo in untraditional voters from other demographics.
