Florida: Clinton Reigns Supreme, Enter Gary Johnson
The latest Florida poll by Mason-Dixon has revealed that Hillary Clinton is still the top dog, that Donald Trump still has to overcome his Democratic rival, and that Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson is now appearing in polls.
- Hillary Clinton – 45%
- Donald Trump – 42%
- Gary Johnson – 6%
Clinton is still the candidate to beat. Trump continues to lose to Clinton in most polls. The fact that Trump is already losing in major polls is a bad sign for his campaign and it is fair to assume that the struggle will continue as the election pulls closer.
Most Americans despise Clinton, but they don’t despise her enough to vote for Trump. Enter Johnson, the Libertarian candidate. It is difficult to say what kind of outcome Johnson will have on the election. While most hopeful Republicans will cling to the belief that he will hurt Clinton’s campaign, it seems more likely that he will steal votes from Trump, who desperately needs to win over the independent and undecided voter demographics.
Trump has already solidified the far right-wing demographic. They love him, they attend his rallies waving American flags, and they love his policies. However, this demograhpic isn’t large enough to guarantee him an election. In order to win, Trump will need to win over minorities, some women, independent voters, and even some Democrats. This is a tall task for a man as vulgar as Trump, and while it seems incredibly unlikely, this current election cycle has been unpredictable and volatile at times.
