Clinton Tops Trump in the Sunshine State
The latest Florida poll by Mason-Dixon has placed Hillary Clinton 2 points ahead of her Republican challenger Donald Trump.
Which presidential candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 44%
- Donald Trump – 42%
- Gary Johnson – 6%
Clinton continues to lead the way, but her lead is a slim one, and she will need to build on it if she wants to try and sneak out a victory in Florida. The sunshine state is a difficult one to win for the Democrats as a large portion of the non-urban population tends to vote Republican. However, Clinton should be able to score major victories in large cities like Miami, due to the presence of large Hispanic populations that will not vote for Trump under any circumstances.
As for Trump, he will need to find a way to appeal to Latino voters, likely an impossible reality given his immigration policies. It is hard to appeal to voters when you are openly talking about deporting their friends and families. Even though Trump has tried to soften his immigration stance in the past week, he has yet to cement his new policy and it could be nothing more than pandering to specific audiences.
With the first debate less than a month away and the election coming closer and closer, expect Clinton to come alive and start to win over undecided voters. The fact that Trump hasn’t kept his mouth shut in the past year is an advantage for Clinton and has provided her with a lot of ammunition to use against the billionaire.
