Carson and Clinton Steal the Show in Texas
The latest Texas poll by KTVT-CBS 11 has revealed that both Ben Carson and Hillary Clinton are in the lead of their respective parties.
Which Democratic candidate would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton – 59%
- Bernie Sanders – 10%
Which Republican candidate would you vote for?
- Ben Carson – 23%
- Donald Trump – 22%
- Ted Cruz – 14%
- Jeb Bush – 13%
The results from this poll are far from surprising. Carson beat Donald Trump by one percent, well within the margin of error. Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush, both natives of Texas, rose above the likes of Carly Fiorina, Marco Rubio, and some of the other fringe candidates. Their sudden rise in Texas is nothing more than a statistical aberration that is purely based on their ties to the state.
The Republican Party nomination is a battle between Trump and Carson. The victor will likely be Trump as he is more moderate than Carson and far more likely to appeal to the larger Republican Demographic when compared to a more radical candidate like Carson who bases many of his decisions on religion.
For the Democrats, Clinton slaughtered Bernie Sanders in Texas. However, this shouldn’t cause Sanders supporters to worry. Sander’s socialist label is incompatible with Texan voters who still link socialism with communism. Sanders can still challenge Clinton for the Democratic nomination, but he will have to focus on staying true to his campaign platforms and exposing Clinton for her two-faced stance on many of the major issues.
